A Mission made Possible

Turning Hope Into Action (THIA) is an organisation of people with a lived experience of homelessness working for and supporting those who are living the experience.

With plans to become the peak body for people experiencing homelessness in Victoria, THIA cites homelessness as an experience and not a category of disadvantaged person.

THIA’s genesis was through a friendship formed by two of its key people who served on the City of Melbourne’s Homelessness Advisory Committee for three years between 2018 and 2020.

A third THIA member was the former Deputy Lord Mayor of Melbourne over three terms.

Together, these three women have been a part of the fabric of Melbourne’s ‘street’ community for the greater part of a collective of 50 years and, they are driven by a desire to effect change.
